Was banned by the BBC for being too harrowing (harrowingly plausible) + and "When the Wind Blows" an utterly sad British cartoon-film. Played regularly at christmas, before or after "Return to Oz" - also quite a harrowing film.<br /><br />Oh, G.Corso's "the bomb"(sic?), nihilistic jouissance, I suppose...<br /><br />the book "brighter than a thousand suns" covers the development of the bomb back to 1880s if I remember correctly.<br /><br />I like to think of the bomb as an unworldly invader presence.
